Former world champion Sanita Puspure appointed head coach of University College Cork

Sanita Puspure has been announced as the new head coach of University College Cork.

The former world champion will become the first ever female head coach of an Irish University, and will front a strong roster of international athletes.

Puspure will continue to compete in single sculls where she represented Ireland at three Olympics, and is set to compete at the Ireland trial this Saturday.

The 39-year-old will work with Olympic bronze medallist Emily Hegarty among a list which includes Ronan Byrne, Aoife Casey, Margaret Cremen and Tara Hanlon.

Puspure recently qualified with a BSc in Strength and Conditioning from Setanta College, and will work with the university from Cork Boat Club.
