A former world champion boxer facing a string of charges including possessing and supplying dangerous drugs has been granted bail.

Ricky Thornberry was described as having a "long history of drug offending" in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Thursday.

The former champion is charged with 39 offences, including 22 counts of supplying dangerous drugs.

It is also alleged Thornberry was found in possession of two guns, two Tasers and a silencer when arrested earlier this year.

Justice Elizabeth Wilson granted bail on strict conditions ordering Thornberry enter a drug rehabilitation program for no less than six months.

He must also undergo a mental health assessment with fears he may have suffered brain injury stemming from his boxing career, the court was told.

The former world super-middleweight champion, who was known as The Gatton Tiger, had a record of 27 wins from 32 bouts.

His career ended with a defeat at the hands of Anthony Mundine on the Gold Coast in November 2002.

Thornberry's case will return to court next year.
