After months of build-up, former Wiggle Emma Watkins has revealed her new children's character, Emma Memma.

In a bright orange and pink video posted on her Instagram account, Watkins debuted the Emma Memma character along with a new side character, Elvin Melvin.

"Sing, Dance and Sign with me, Emma Memma and my new friend Elvin Melvin," she wrote in the post.

According to Watkins's official website, Emma Memma will focus on: "A new generation of communication, where she and her friends navigate challenges and adventure using sign language, choreographed dance narratives, gesture, mime, singing, speaking, listening, making craft and drawing."

Watkins announced her retirement from The Wiggles in 2021, citing her ongoing PhD studies as one of the reasons for her departure from the group.

"I'm really looking forward to devoting more time and energy to focus on completing my PhD which incorporates my ongoing passion for sign language, dance and film editing, and to having more time to work with the deaf community," Watkins said at the time.

The newly released Emma Memma video suggests Watkins will continue her strong advocacy for Auslan through her new character, with the children's entertainer signing along with the lyrics.

Watkins joined The Wiggles in 2010 before donning the iconic Yellow skivvy in 2013, becoming the first-ever female Wiggle.

When she left the group she passed the yellow Wiggle torch to 16-year-old Tsehay Hawkins, who became the youngest Wiggle ever.
