Former Wigan Warriors forward makes sudden exit from Championship club

Romain Navarrete has left London Broncos to take up a contract with Toulouse Olympique.

The former Wigan Warriors forward has departed the Championship club with immediate effect, having arrived before the start of the season.

The France international arrived at the capital club after leaving the Warriors and made an instant impression, being named man of the match on debut against Keighley Cougars.

He has gone on to make 10 appearances for the Broncos, scoring two tries, but his departure has now been finalised just days after the exit of head coach Danny Ward.

The 27-year-old, who played 60 times for the Warriors over four seasons, has been granted a release to join Super League hopefuls Toulouse, a move that allows him to be closer to his family.

Also formerly of Wakefield and Catalans, Navarrete is thought to be on the lookout for a new club.

It's a blow for London, who already have a small squad.

They are currently fifth in the Championship after their most recent victory over York City Knights. They are three wins better off than seventh-placed Newcastle Thunder.

Navarrete started his career in the French leagues before getting his chance with Catalans. He joined Wigan in 2017 before eventually falling out of favour under Adrian Lam, which resulted in a move to Wakefield.
