Former White House press secretary Joe Lockhart thinks Vikings should sign Kaepernick

Joe Lockhart recently wrote a column for CNN about what’s been going on in Minnesota.

Lockhart, a White House press secretary during the Bill Clinton administration and a former NFL executive, argued that the Vikings have an opportunity where they should sign Colin Kaepernick .

Here’s what he said about the team signing the quarterback:

“The situation in Minnesota right now offers a unique opportunity to deal with the symbols of racial injustice. As a small, but important step, the owners of the Minnesota Vikings, Zygi and Mark Wilf, can send a strong message by offering Colin Kaepernick a contract to play with the Vikings. Bring him into camp, treat him like any of the other players given a chance to play the game they love.”

Kaepernick hasn’t played in the NFL since 2016. However, he worked out for NFL teams in November at Charles Drew High School in Riverdale, Georgia. He still has not been signed.

“I think the teams were wrong for not signing him,” Lockhart wrote. “Watching what’s going on in Minnesota, I understand how badly wrong we were.”
