Former Westlife star Brian McFadden reveals he hasn't spoken to ex-bandmates in 10 years

Former Westlife singer Brian McFadden has revealed he hasn’t spoken to his ex-bandmates in 10 years.

The star appeared on ITV’s This Morning to promote new music with Boyzone’s Keith Duffy as part of their group, Boyzlife, just months after releasing their first single, The One, last October.

Westlife was formed in 1998, but Brian decided to quit in 2004, just months before his marriage to Kerry Katona ended.

He explained at the time that he wanted to spend more time with her and their two daughters Molly and Lily but months later he moved to Australia to launch a solo career and began dating Delta Goodrem.

When asked by host Alison Hammond if Westlife supports Boyzlife, Brian said: “Don’t know. I haven’t spoken to them in 10 years.

“[I left] in 2004. I’ve actually been in Boyzlife longer, which is weird.”

The 41-year-old Dubliner took a playful swipe earlier in the interview after they introduced the pair with the wrong song. Alison said: “Westlife and Boyzone join forces. Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden. They join us now! Now you just said, earlier on we played a tune Brian?”

He replied: “You played You Raise Me Up and it’s the only one I wasn’t in. I’d actually left the band at that point.” Keith chirped: “You played the one song that is literally nothing to do with either of us.”

Co-host Dermot O’Leary cringed as he said: “That’s literally so awkward, I’m so sorry.”

However, it seemed they found the funny side as Keith joked: “Twenty one number ones and you pick the one I’m not a part of.”

And Keith added he would never entertain the idea of a supergroup between Boyzone and Westlife. He added: “When there’s five it’s difficult, there’s too many personalities but it is only Brian and I and we agree on everything.”

Keith said Boyzone supports Boyzlife, telling the show: “Absolutely, we were on with Ronan [Keating] this morning with Magic and he played the song.”
