Former West Ham defender Jeremy Ngakia confident he will become a Premier League player with Watford

Jeremy Ngakia believes it won’t be long before he is a Premier League player with Watford after taking the “brave” decision to leave West Ham and drop down to the Championship.

The 20-year-old full-back left West Ham for recently relegated Watford in the summer after his contract at the London Stadium expired.

The Hammers pushed hard to keep Ngakia, who came through their academy, but the youngster has explained he left to further his career by playing every week in the Championship

“I believe that I will become a Premier League player with Watford,” said Ngakia.

“At this moment of my career the most important thing for me is to develop and kick-start my career.

“I didn’t think I was honestly going to get games at West Ham. It didn’t sound…what would I say…it didn’t feel guaranteed.

“Then Watford came in for me and it sounded very, very good. It was a great opportunity for me and I had to take it.

“I think you have got to be brave, 100 per cent. You have got to do what is best for you.

“I am learning a lot. Literally every day in training I am learning something new because I am a young player.”
