Former Waterford boss John Sheridan leaves Wigan for Swindon job

John Sheridan has linked up again with Lee Power - this time at Swindon Town.

Robins chairman Power brought Sheridan to Waterford in July but after eight games in the Blues hot-seat the 56-year-old left for a short-term deal with Wigan.

Former Oldham, Chesterfield and Plymouth boss Sheridan has now taken the managerial role vacated by Richie Wellens at the start of the month - and takes over from Noel Hunt, who was looking after team affairs on a temporary basis.

Coincidentally Swindon are two points off bottom club Wigan in League One.

Sheridan said: “I’m very pleased to be here. I get the opportunity to manage a good club who were successful last season and a club who are trying to get promotion in a really tough league.

“I know (director of football) Paul Jewell and the chairman (Power) and I’m very pleased they’ve given me the chance to come and work at a good club.

“There’s a few players here that have worked under me before, some really good players at this club and it’s a team I feel we can push in the right direction.”

Power stated: “We are very pleased that John has come in. He is someone that I have worked with before and that I know well. The club needs John’s experience and I think he will be a great help to the team and myself".
