Colt Brennan was a star quarterback for the University of Hawaii from 2005-07, ending his career as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy in 2007, finishing third behind Tim Tebow and Darren McFadden.
Brennan, 37, died on Monday. According to Hawaii News Now, details surrounding Brennan’s death aren’t currently known, but he was believed to have been at a rehabilitation facility in California before his death.

Lightly recruited out of high school, Brennan was a walk-on at Colorado. He spent one year there before transferring to Saddleback College in California, where he led the school to a conference championship.
From there, Brennan went to Hawaii, where he quickly became the starting quarterback. An All-American at Hawaii, Brennan would become a sixth-round draft choice by the Washington Football Team in the 2008 NFL draft.
A preseason star for Washington, Brennan was behind Jason Campbell on the quarterback depth chart during his two seasons with the Football Team. However, he quickly became popular with fans for his style of play.
Brennan was released by Washington in 2010 and briefly played for the Oakland Raiders. Brennan also spent time in the CFL, UFL and Arena Football League.
