Former Warriors Quinn Cook, JaVale McGee feasted against former team

Without Stephen Curry (rest) and D’Angelo Russell playing point guard, the Golden State Warriors were no match for the Los Angeles Lakers, who chose LeBron James as their floor general on Wednesday night. Add Anthony Davis and JaVale McGee into the starting lineup and it was a night of easy feasting for the Lakers, with the bones of the Warriors picked clean.

James and Davis did their thing, of course, but former Warriors McGee and Quinn Cook showed out, too.

Quinn Cookin’ up a smorgasbord

Cook went to the Lakers in free agency so that he could return home and play for his late father’s favorite team. So far, it seems things are working out just fine for him in L.A.

Against the Warriors, Quinn Cooked for 16 points in 15 minutes off the bench. That’s the production of someone who makes six of nine field-goal attempts (66.7%). But it was his 3-point shooting that was positively sizzling — a hot 80%, with Cook making four of his five attempts.

All hail JaVale McGee

The most ridiculed man in the NBA turned two-time champion with the Warriors, McGee is the starting center for the Lakers following the season-ending ACL injury to former Warrior DeMarcus Cousins. Now, he’s with the “Lake Show,” and thriving at the rim. Move over Kermit and Miss Piggy, it’s the “Big-to-Big connection.”

McGee excelled in 18 minutes on Wednesday, recording 12 points, six rebounds, one block and one steal, for pretty +23 in plus/minus.

The Lakers demolished the Warriors 126-93. The teams meet for a fourth and final time this preseason on Friday, Oct. 18, in Golden State.
