Former Warrior Andre Iguodala praises Steph Curry’s bold move at Howard University

Former Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala won three NBA championships in a five-year span and the Finals MVP award in 2015. With the team embarking on a youth movement in 2019, Iguodala was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies just weeks after “The Sixth Man,” his memoir, made The New York Times bestsellers list.

On Monday, news broke that his former teammate, Stephen Curry, was in Washington, D.C., to announce a six-year sponsorship of the Howard University men’s and women’s golf teams. Iguodala, an avid golfer like Curry, tweeted praise for Curry’s philanthropic efforts.

“You the world’s greatest pro!” Iguodala tweeted.

Iguodala’s new profile picture on Twitter further celebrated Curry, golf and the players’ bond over the sport. While Iguodala swings on the fairway, a super-hyped Curry screams in the background.

If only everyone could have a screaming basketball superstar in the background of their profile pics.

Howard University athletic director Kery Davis called Curry’s contribution to the university’s athletic department “one of the most generous gifts” in the school’s history.

During the Monday’s announcement ceremony, Curry explained his reasons for investing in the Howard Bison golf programs:

… [W]hen you hear about these passionate student athletes who have the talent but don’t have a fair shot at the game, it’s tough. I feel really honored to play a small role in the rich history of Howard University.
