CHENNAI: "Late aa vanthalum latest ah vanthirukirar," says DMK chief M K Stalin on the entry of former vice president of MNM Dr R Mahendran. He along with his supporters joined DMK at Anna Arivalayam in the presence of party general secretary Duraimurugan and senior leaders K N Nehru, R S Bharathi and T R Baalu.
He had been expecting Mahendran to join the party since the announcement of the assembly polls. But he came a bit late, said Stalin and recalled actor Rajinikanth’s famous dialogue “late aa vanthalum latest ah vanthirukirar” to hint Mahendran’s entry into the party after the polls.
“If he had joined the party ahead of the assembly polls, the party would have secured a massive victory in Kongu belt. Though the party has won a good number of seats in the elections to form the government, I regret that the party did not win seats in Coimbatore, Salem and other districts in Kongu belt as expected,” Stalin said.
He continued, “if Mahendran had joined the party before the elections, then I wouldn’t have this worry by now. From now on, he will work on strengthening the party in the region.”
Former AIADMK MP Vijila Sathyanathan along with supporters, and AMMK functionaries from Pudukottai and Tirunelveli have also joined DMK on the occasion.
