Former Virgin Money chief Ghadia to lead US software giant in UK

Former RBS exec and Virgin Money boss Jayne-Anne Gadhia has joined US software giant Salesforce as chief executive of its UK and Ireland business.

Salesforce said that from October 1 she will lead the UK and Ireland arm through its "next stage of growth" after the firm pledged to invest $2.5 billion US dollars (£2.1 billion) in the division over the next five years.

Gadhia, who was recognised in the 2019 New Year's Honours list for her contribution to financial services and women in the finance industry, will not be taking up a previously agreed appointment on the Bank of England's Financial Policy Committee (FPC) due to her new role at Salesforce.

The Treasury said it was agreed that Dame Jayne-Anne would withdraw from the appointment, as the position at Salesforce meant she would not be able to commit the necessary time required to serve on the FPC.

Gadhia recently became chief executive of the fintech start-up Snoop, having stood down from the board of Perth-based Stagecoach Group.

She said: "I've admired Salesforce from afar for a long time. This is a different kind of business, with deeply held values and a true focus on transforming the experience of every customer through cutting edge technology.

"I'm looking forward to working with the team as we continue to invest and support Salesforce's growing customer base in UK and Ireland."
