Former village courthouse with blue plaque on the market

A historic house in an enviable south Liverpool location has come onto the market.

The property on the quaint, red brick Quarry Street in Woolton has two bedrooms, one bathroom and boasts a rich history. From 1873 to 1968, the building served as Woolton Police Station & Magistrates Court and was later home to the Liverpool Ambulance Service Training School.

Although the house is a two-up, two-down, it certainly has the upper hand when it comes to location and character. It's within walking distance of pubs, bars, shops and restaurants, and has also been revamped to a high standard by its current owners.

The solid wood front door is daubed in a pillar-box red and leads to a bright and airy hallway. Off-white floor tiles also enhance the space.

The cosy lounge has a log burner at its centre and is painted in a rich blue. The large kitchen and dining area is at the rear of the ground floor, with natural wood and greenery providing by houseplants clashing with the industrial fittings and slate grey cabinets.

Upstairs, a black bannister and lilac internal doors add a quirky touch. The bedrooms are also full of colour, such as powder pink and calming green. The family bathroom has sage wall tiles from floor to ceiling.

Outside, the owners have made the most of the small yard, installing decking and adding plenty of potted plants.

The house has been put on the market for offers in the region of £315,000 by estate agents Whitegates.

According to Rightmove data, properties on Quarry Street had an overall average price of £247,500 over the last year. Terraced houses fetched an average of £365,000, while flats sold for £130,000.
