Former Vikings punt returner Marcus Sherels is a free agent

The Vikings lost punt returner Marcus Sherels in free agency this offseason to the New Orleans Saints.

There’s a chance the Vikings could bring him back. On Sunday, the Saints reached an injury settlement with Sherels. Now Sherels is free to sign with any team.

Sherels sat out of preseason due to an undisclosed injury. Obviously, that’s somewhat of a concern.

Sherels, 31, is the best punt returner in Vikings history. He’s returned five career total punt return touchdowns and has 2,477 punt return yards, both franchise records. He spent 2010-18 after attending the University of Minnesota.

We’ll see where the Rochester, Minn. native ends up.
