Former Vikings OT Matt Kalil signing with Texans

After being released by the Carolina Panthers last week, former Vikings offensive tackle Matt Kalil is headed to the Texans per multiple reports.

Kalil, the No. 4 pick by the Vikings in the 2012 NFL Draft, looked like a franchise guy in his rookie season. He made the Pro Bowl in his rookie campaign, but since then, his career has kind of been a disaster.

He was inconsistent for the Vikings and ultimately, they moved on.

His time in Carolina was even worse. Kalil played in all 16 games in 2017 for Carolina but missed last season due to a knee injury. He’s missed 30 of 48 games over the last three seasons.

Kalil will likely compete for a starting job in Houston.

His contract numbers haven’t been reported yet. Over his seven-year career, Kalil has made more than $56 million.
