Former Vikings LB Gerald Hodges announces retirement

Gerald Hodges is retiring young.

The former Vikings linebacker announced on Twitter that he will retire at age 28.

Minnesota drafted Hodges in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He spent the first two-plus seasons with the Vikings before they traded him to the 49ers for guard Nick Easton and a sixth-round pick.

He appeared in 29 games for the Vikings, starting 10.

In 2017, Hodges played for the Saints, and last season, he played for the Cardinals –  starting six out of 16 games.

Per Spotrac, Hodges made a little more than $5 million throughout his career.
