Former Viking Alan Page ranks 27th on top-100 list

Our friends over at USA TODAY Sports are putting together a top-100 NFL player list to celebrate the league’s 100th season.

Coming in at No. 27 on the list is former Vikings defensive lineman Alan Page.

Page spent his first 12 seasons with the Vikings after being drafted in the first round in 1967 out of Notre Dame.

He spent the last four seasons of his career with the Bears.

Page was an instrumental part of the team’s Purple People Eaters era that appeared in four Super Bowls. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1988 and was part of nine Pro Bowl teams and six All-Pro teams.

He’s not talked about a lot as one of the all-time greats, but he was also in an era where they didn’t keep track of defensive stats (like sacks) like that do today.
