Former US President Jimmy Carter has revealed that he has been diagnosed with cancer.
Doctors discovered the cancer during the 90-year-old's recent liver surgery. He released a brief statement through the Carter Center on Wednesday.
"Recent liver surgery revealed that I have cancer that now is in other parts of my body. I will be rearranging my schedule as necessary so I can undergo treatment by physicians at Emory Healthcare. A more complete public statement will be made when facts are known, possibly next week."
The Carter Center is a non-profit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia founded in 1982 by President Carter and his wife Rosalynn Carter.
