Former UGA QB Jacob Eason appears fast-tracked as Washington’s starter

A pair of four-star Washington Huskies quarterbacks have both entered the transfer portal, leaving former Georgia quarterback the heir apparent to the position.

Redshirt freshmen and 2017 recruit Colson Yankoff and Jacob Sirmon have entered their names in the NCAA transfer protocol and are free to be contacted by any college team.

Jacob Eason, the former five-star recruit who transferred from Georgia after his sophomore year in 2017, came out of the Huskies’ spring practice as the starter. Sophomore Jake Haener is the likely backup. Eason, one of the highest rated recruits in Georgia history, started 12 of 13 games as a true freshman. After injuring his knee early in the first game of his sophomore season, he wasn’t able to regain the starting position from then freshman, Jake Fromm.

Eason will replace four-year starter Jake Browning, who led Washington to 39 career wins and left as the program’s all-time leader passer. He signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent last weekend.
