Former UFC champion Luke Rockhold: ‘I have no interest in fighting right now’

It appears Luke Rockhold may be contemplating retirement.

Speaking to ESPN, the former UFC and Strikeforce middleweight champion said it’s possible that he never fights again.

“I have no interest in fighting right now,” Rockhold told ESPN.

The 35-year-old Rockhold (16-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC), attempted to turn his career around by moving up to light heavyweight earlier this year when the weight cuts down to middleweight started to take a toll on his body.

“I never had as much of a cut my entire career before my last two fights,” Rockhold said.

But his move up to 205 was quickly shut down with a second-round knockout loss to Jan Blachowicz at UFC 239 in July. He suffered a broken jaw in the fight. Rockhold has lost three of his past four, and all three losses have been by knockout.

Outside the octagon, Rockhold has found success as a model, including for Ralph Lauren for several of campaigns. He previously has admitted that he makes more money modeling than he does fighting.

While he hasn’t said he’s retiring for sure, it sounds like it may be something he’s considering.
