Former trainee at Derby building consultancy returns to take up senior role

A former trainee at a Derby building consultancy has returned to the firm as an associate director.

Josh Toon originally started his career at Armsons, which is based in Brick Row, in Darley Abbey, but left the project management and construction costs consultancy firm in order to gain more experience and qualifications.

Now he has returned to the company to take up a senior position.

Sally Walters, director at Armsons, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Josh back to the team. He’s worked really hard over the past couple of years, completing his degree and achieving his MRICS qualification.

“He has gained experience of working on a diverse range of major projects and is set to take on more responsibility in his new role as a senior member of the team.”

Josh first joined Armsons in 2011 as a trainee quantity surveyor studying for a five-year part-time degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management at Nottingham Trent University.

When he left Armsons in late 2017 to join Loughborough-based Edward Cooper Young Chartered Surveyors, he progressed to senior surveyor.

During his time away, he was responsible for managing a team of quantity surveyors and working on multi-million pound schemes. In November, 2018, he gained his Professional Chartership (MRICS) with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

In his new role as associate director with Armsons, he will be involved in a diverse range of project management, quantity surveying and cost management services carried out the by company for both private and public sector clients.

Josh said:  “It’s exciting to be back taking on new responsibilities among so many familiar faces.

“The team gave me a tremendous amount of help and support when I was a trainee and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into some really exciting projects in my new senior role with the firm.”
