Move over Mary Beard, and stand down David Starkey – because TV is getting a new historian – Mark Wright.
The former TOWIE star has let slip he is turning his hand to historical documentary.
Ever a one for detail – a skill he’ll need for his research – he reveals his show is “about something that’s happened in history”.
“It’s a project I’m passionate about,” says Mark. “It’s going to be serious, it’s not fly-on-the-wall.”
Mark’s passion for the past might have been sparked by appearing on BBC1’s Who Do You Think You Are?
He discovered an Andalusian swordsman among his Spanish ancestors, and a relative burned at the stake during the Inquisition.
The 33-year-old, who is also working part-time for US TV on entertainment show Extra, was cheerfully party-hopping in LA this weekend for the Oscars.
He hung out with Hollywood star Jamie Foxx ahead of appearing on Good Morning Britain yesterday.
Catching up with the Mirror at Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Oscars viewing party, he raved about his new work set-up, which allows him to spend more time with wife Michelle Keegan.
“We had a crazy couple of years but now we are in England we get to spend more time together, it’s great,” he said.
“I left my full time position on Extra but they have worked something out where I come back and [forth],” he added.
“It’s the dream. I didn’t predict how much I would miss England.”
