Peter Crouch has urged Harry Kane to stay at Tottenham Hotspur and become a club legend.
The Englishman signed a bumper deal last June which ties him to the north London club until 2024.
Kane has made it no secret that he wants to win trophies and with Spurs yet to win any silverware under Mauricio Pochettino, questions are being asked about his long-term future.
Realistically, a title tilt isn't going to materialise this season and with Tottenham already out of the Carabao Cup, that leaves the FA Cup and the Champions League as their only opportunities to win a trophy this season.
On one hand, Kane has a very realistic chance of beating Alan Shearer's record of 283 Premier League goals, which would be a major personal accolade which could help to keep him in north London.
The England captain has 130 goals in 188 appearances in England's top flight and at the age of only 26, he has plenty more seasons at his peak to try and reach that target, as long as he stays injury free.
Former Spurs striker Crouch, equally, believes that Kane should stay at Tottenham and return a club legend in the future.
"There is a lot to be said for being a legend at one club. To come back in 30 years having been a record scorer," he told BT Sport.
"He will want to win trophies but they are not there. He'll want signings and he will want assurances that he can do it at this club."
Similarly, former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves can only see Kane leaving for Spain and not any of Tottenham's English rivals.
With Real Madrid having heavily invested in Luka Jovic and Barcelona with Antoine Griezmann, a big-money move for the Spurs number ten seems unlikely in the current climate, which is a boost for the club.
Hargreaves added: "I think the only place he leaves for Tottenham is Real Madrid or Barcelona. I think he can win things.
"I think by November they will be third."
Tottenham sit sixth in the table with 11 points from their opening seven fixtures, three points behind third-placed Leicester City.
