Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has insisted that another top-four finish would be a reasonable expectation for the club this season.
It's been a poor start to the season for Spurs who sit seventh in the Premier League table after nine games, with three defeats already to their name.
In the Champions League, they've collected four points from their first three matches which included a 7-2 thumping by Bayern Munich, whilst also being dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Colchester United, ending any hope of picking up some silverware in the competition.
However, a 5-0 with over Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday night has lifted spirits that Spurs can turn their season around.
With Mauricio Pochettino still yet to win any trophies during his six-year spell at the club, the FA Cup and Champions League look like Tottenham's only realistic prospects this season.
With the likes of Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen all looking for a summer exit, speculation is circiling around the future of Pochettino.
However, Bent believes that a top-four finish has to be Spurs' main aim once again, to ensure they're back amongst Europe's elite next season.
Bent, speaking on behalf of GentingBet, Bent, said: "Top four again. I would have said to them to go all out to win a cup, but obviously, one of them was taken away with the [League Cup] result at Colchester.
"They’ve got to finish in that top four. It’s going to be a lot more open again this season.
"Liverpool and Man City will occupy the top two, but then other than that, I think it’s a straight fight for the next two spots.
"Spurs need to make sure that they’re one of them that’s in there."
