Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara believes Jose Mourinho will be looking to overhaul his squad this summer.
Spurs missed out on the chance to make up ground in the race for Champions League football after being beaten by Wolves on Sunday afternoon.
Despite twice leading at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side eventually came out on top in a five-goal thriller.
Already attention is turning to the summer and O’Hara believes there are a lot of players at the club who need shifting out.
“It’s not his team,” the former Spurs man told Sky Sports’ Debate show.
“You have to give him until the summer, get through the season, and let him bring in his own players.
“Get rid [of some], you’ve got to sell some players. Mourinho’s not rolling up at Tottenham and not getting money in the summer to spend.
“So I think Tottenham need to rebuild and they’ve started the process.
“Danny Rose has gone, players have left, the players who are the deadwood, but it’s going to take time. It takes time.
“You’ve got to give him that chance to do that. He’s trying to get it done.”
One player who has been continually linked with a move to north London this summer is Chris Smalling, and O’Hara has given his approval to the possible transfer.
“Yeah, I like Chris Smalling,” he added.“I think he had a bad time at Man United and come under a bit of scrutiny because of where they were at the time.
“But he’s gone out to Italy and he’s playing well and I think I’ve always rated him as an England international.”
