Darren Bent has praised Willy Boly and urged Tottenham to take a chance on him.
The Wolves defender has been a key player under Nuno Espirito Santo leading to speculation over a move away from Molineux.
With the future of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld very much up in the air, Spurs have been linked with a move for the 28-year-old as a proven Premier League replacement.
Speaking to Football Insider , Bent hailed the impact that Boly has had on Wolves and said that he's the sort of player who Tottenham would benefit from having.
He said: “Yeah when he’s been out the team, Conor Coady looks completely different.
“To be fair to Coady, he has done well, but when Boly is not next to him, he looks like a central midfielder playing as a centre-half, yet when Boly is next to him, he looks solid, composed and for me, I have wondered why no one has looked at him and think we’ll take a chance on him.”
Speculation surrounding the future of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld looks set to rumble on after Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was asked about the situation during the Tottenham Hotspur supporters' trust meeting .
The minutes from the meeting reveal: "Concerning the situations of other player contracts, Daniel Levy said that it wasn’t possible to make a anyone sign a contract if they didn’t want to. Some players have been at Spurs for a long time and want to pursue new opportunities elsewhere.
"Daniel Levy felt it was important to look at each individual circumstance. Players want new challenges. It wasn’t always about not wanting to play for Tottenham any more."
