Former Tottenham midfielder makes bold Newcastle observation involving Harry Kane and Heung-min Son

Jamie O’Hara believes Newcastle United have a better starting line-up than Tottenham Hotspur aside from Harry Kane and Heung-min Son. Last week, the Magpies schooled Spurs in their own backyard to claim their biggest scalp to date under Eddie Howe.

Goals from Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron humiliated Antonio Conte’s side and evoked belief among Toon supporters that European football can be achieved this season. As it stands, Newcastle are in fourth spot - an astonishing feat given the club’s fate 12 months ago.

This time last year, United were managerless, winless and staring into the abyss of Premier League relegation. Shrewd recruitment and hard work on the training pitch has elevated Newcastle to new heights.

Before the win over Spurs, O’Hara - a White Hart Lane academy graduate in 2007 - named four Newcastle players who would get into their side. However, defeat last weekend has served up a dish of humble pie as he now thinks only Kane and Son would represent Tottenham in a combined team.

“They are doing very well, Newcastle,” O’Hara told talkSPORT. “They are flying. We keep saying, is it too early for them to get into the top four? They’re a problem. I mean, look at Liverpool they're absolutely having one.

“I look at their side: Joelinton, Callum Wilson, (Allan) Saint-Maximin, Bruno Guimaraes… they have a better team than Tottenham. If you look at their XI, apart from Kane and Son, I'd rather have Newcastle's team.”
