Former Tottenham midfielder in full agreement with Pep Guardiola about Harry Kane

Harry Kane made an emphatic statement on his return from injury for Tottenham against West Brom.

Sidelined for two games after suffering an ankle problem in the 3-1 home defeat by Liverpool towards the end of last month, his absence coincided with Spurs failing to score in successive 1-0 losses against Brighton and Chelsea.

A run that was ended in the 54th minute on Sunday afternoon as Kane finally broke the Baggies' resistance and ensured the Lilywhites got their top-four push back on track.

However, Spurs' struggles without Kane were addressed by former midfielder Jamie O'Hara following the defeat against Brighton where the host had double the amount of shots than their opponents.

And O'Hara reacted to the loss by hitting out at Mourinho's inability to cope without Kane.

"Harry Kane gets injured at this point of the season, every season, we know that and Spurs fans have got used to it,” O'Hara told talkSPORT recently. "When Pochettino lost Harry Kane, we coped.

"We managed to get through games, Son came into his own and scored goals, other players like Lucas Moura stepped up to the plate. We dealt with not having him.

"But with Jose Mourinho, when Kane doesn’t play it’s literally like we have absolutely nothing else to offer. There’s no plan b on how we’re going to get through games.

"Watching that light night, you’d say we’re a complete one-man band. Even Son looks lost without Harry Kane playing now.

"You’ve got to have an idea of what you’re going to do when you haven’t got Kane, because he gets injured and you have to be able to deal with it.

"Pochettino dealt with it. He got Spurs to the Champions League final without Harry Kane.

"But Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem to know how to get the best out of the team when he’s not playing."

O'Hara's comments echo what Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola implied about Spurs a few years ago as he labelled them as the "Harry Kane" team - suggesting they were over-reliant on the England captain.

With that said, Guardiola has since insisted he did not mean to disrespect Spurs as his comments were intended as a compliment to Kane.

"They show me how wrong I was," Guardiola said.
