Former Tottenham midfielder delivers his verdict on when the Premier League season will end

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy has welcomed the idea of the Premier League season possibly being concluded in a World Cup-type event, with clubs being placed in self-isolation camps across June and July.

Murphy's admission comes following a report by the Independent which revealed that the Premier League are doing all they can to avoid the season being voided, with the idea of a World Cup-type event being played behind closed doors.

The games, which would be shown live on TV, would be played in the Midlands and in London.

Now, Murphy has backed that idea, insisting that it would be both "fantastic" and "doable."

Top 10 playmakers in the Premier League for 19/20... so far

"I think in principle it is a fantastic idea. I think it is doable," the former England international told talkSPORT. "I think if you can isolate a Premier League squad and its staff in a hotel... that is normal anyway.

"Look, there is legs in it and I think even if it doesn't happen they are trying to think outside the box, here.

"We have talked about this before and there is no ideal way of resolving this season. The reason it is not going to be ideal is because we are so used to what we get; the full stadiums.

"The fairness of that I understand. But because of this coronavirus and these unprecedented times that we are in, we have to find a way.

"If this is feasible, and there will be some issues, but give me a scenario of finishing the season that doesn't create problems?"
