Former Tottenham forward has a message for Michail Antonio after West Ham's win against Spurs

Michail Antonio has been described as a player with "a lot of ability" after his match-winning strike for West Ham against London rivals Tottenham on Saturday.

The Hammers star became the first player from a visiting side to score at Tottenham's new stadium as he netted the winning goal in the London derby, with West Ham becoming the first side to claim all three points at the new home of their rivals.

But while Antonio has been praised for his performance and earned a place in Garth Crooks' team of the week, the former Tottenham forward also delivered a message for the 29-year-old after his bizarre celebration following the winning goal.

Michail Antonio explains what bizarre celebration during West Ham's win at Spurs is all about

"This is a player who has a lot of ability, who is strong as an ox and can score goals with his feet and head," Crooks said in his team of the week feature for the BBC website.

"West Ham's Antonio appeared to be the perfect foil for Marko Arnautovic and I'm not entirely sure why it's taken manager Manuel Pellegrini so long to discover this burgeoning double act.

"Tottenham couldn't cope with Antonio running in behind their back four to devastating effect. It's so refreshing to see a team prepared to play the long game instead of this tippy-tappy nonsense. A word of advice for Antonio - keep scoring the goals, dump the celebration."

Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer names the West Ham star who was 'almost perfect' vs Spurs

Antonio was not the only West Ham player to make it into Crooks' team of the week, with his team-mate Issa Diop also included in the BBC pundit's selection, with the former Spurs man adding that he "read the game beautifully".
