Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino drops biggest hint yet that he will take PSG job

After more than a year out-of-work, former Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino is poised to make a return to management in the near future.

The Argentine, who was sacked by Spurs in November 2019, is expected to succeed Thomas Tuchel in the French capital following his recent departure.

Pochettino, who spent five years in charge in north London, has been keen to make a return to the dugout for several months, revealing back in November that he was ready to take on a new challenge.

Speaking to Sky Sports back in November, Pochettino said: “I always feel ready to be again involved in the game.

Tottenham: 2020 in review

"Football is my passion, it’s not stress when you are working, it’s not a stress to go into the training ground, it’s not a stress to prepare for the game, it’s not a stress to compete.

"I am looking forward to being involved in the game. I love the game, it’s difficult, we are inside, we are working, but it’s not the same as being involved every single day, the time you spent with your players and your staff.

"You miss that, that’s the reality.”

Now, following Tuchel's dismissal at the Parc des Princes, Pochettino is in line to replace him, with reports claiming that he has already agreed a contract with the French giants and is poised to be officially unveiled very soon.

And with the Argentine poised to be confirmed as the French giants' new boss, he has dropped his biggest hint yet that he will be succeeding Tuchel.

An eagle-eyed PSG fan happens to have spotted that the former Southampton manager has joined Instagram to wish his followers a Happy New Year.

As well as joining Instagram, the Argentine chief happens to have started following the French club, suggesting that he is very, very close to being officially unveiled as their new boss. However, it should be remembered that Pochettino did play for PSG between 2001 and 2003.

Once the announcement is officially made, Pochettino will have taken on the fourth role of his managerial career, following on from his spells at Espanyol, Southampton and Spurs.

It is reported that Pochettino's first task as PSG manager will be to convince star duo Kylian Mbappe and Neymar to sign new contracts.

The duo, who are two of the world's best players, are PSG's main figures, meaning Pochettino will be desperate to keep hold of them and build his team around them.

This season, Mbappe and Neymar have scored 23 goals between them, highlighting their importance to the cause.
