Former Tottenham boss Martin Jol 'secretly sold' Porsche 911 given to him by Daniel Levy

Former Tottenham manager Martin Jol has revealed that he "secretly" sold a fancy car gifted to him by club chairman Daniel Levy.

The Dutchman, who took charge at Spurs between 2004-07, claimed in an interview how he was promised a BMW by Paul Kemsley if he got the team into Europe, insisting that the vice-chairman and Levy were both "obsessed with the Champions League".

Jol said he believes he actually received a "watch from his driver instead" - which he gave to his nephew - following qualification for the Uefa Cup before being given a Porsche 911 by Levy after once again sealing a place in Europe's secondary club competition.

Rather than cherish the gift, however, the 63-year-old revealed that he actually sold it as the result of already owning the same model.

“Paul never turned up with the BMW, but maybe a year later when we qualified for Europe again, Daniel gave me a Porsche 911," he told the Daily Telegraph.

"That was nice, but the thing was I already had the same Porsche, so secretly I sold it a couple of months later.

“It didn’t come with any of the papers, so I had to make an excuse to ask for them so I could sell it!”

Jol achieved two fifth-placed finishes during his time at White Hart Lane, though was sacked in October 2007 and replaced by Juande Ramos after a disastrous start to the season.

He returned to English football in 2011 for a stint at Fulham that ended with his dismissal in December 2013.
