Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has already delivered his verdict on PSG return

Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has previously admitted he dreams of coaching Paris Saint-Germain one day, with the sacking of Thomas Tuchel being considered, according to reports.

Spanish publication AS are saying that Tuchel’s days in charge of the French champions could be done following the club’s 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in Sunday’s Champions League final.

Tuchel does not have the full backing of the French club’s board, the report states, and his decision to bring on Eric Choupo-Moting instead of Mauro Icardi in the second-half, surprised many watching.

The German coach also didn’t bring on Pablo Sarabia - who is PSG’s top goalscorer this season - with these decisions showing a “lack of ability to react quickly in the decisive moments”.

Pochettino, who was sacked by Spurs last November, has been out of work ever since and despite being linked with a number of jobs, PSG could be the perfect fit for the Argentine.

The 48-year-old spent two years at the Parc des Princes from 2001-2003 as a player and when asked four years ago about potentially returning to the club, the Argentine coach couldn’t hide his excitement.

“Would I like to return to Paris one day? Why not? Coaching PSG one day would be fantastic. It’s one of my dreams,” Pochettino said.

Pochettino was heavily linked with the managerial roles at Juventus, before the Italian side appointed former midfielder Andrea Pirlo.

Likewise, the former Spurs boss was linked with the Barcelona job, but instead the La Liga giants chose Ronald Koeman.
