Former TK Maxx employee gives top tips for shopping at the store - and busts common myths

An ex-TK Maxx employee has racked up thousands of views after posting a series of videos sharing shop 'secrets' and busting common myths about the store.

TikTok user Dale O'Keeffe provides hints and tips for customers shopping at the chain, as well as answering questions addressing rumours people had heard about TK Maxx.

The shop is well-known for offering premium brands at discounted prices - but Dale warned any underhand tactics to reduce the cost further would likely fail as staff have seen every trick in the book.

He claimed that every product out on display has a "six week sell by date" and would be placed into clearance if it doesn't go in that time - meaning it's sometimes worth waiting to grab a better bargain.

The videos have had hundreds of thousands of views (daleokeeffe/Tiktok)

Dale said there's no testers for make-up and products opened by customers are all binned at the end of the day for hygiene reasons.

He also added that if you switch price tags on items the staff always know you're trying to pull a fast one and they'll find the right price instead.

To grab the latest arrivals, the former employee said there is usually new stock every day so it's always worth checking in the morning, and that Thursdays often give the best chance of finding newly reduced items.

He also explained that TK Maxx will often buy products from brands that have over-produced stock - or from other retailers who have over-ordered - at reduced rates, allowing it to sell popular brands at discounted prices.

And addressing common myths about the store, he reassured shoppers that the chain never sells fake items and shut down the idea that there is a stock room at the back holding additional bargains.

Dale said the room is known as the processing room, where new stock is sorted and then taken directly out to the shop floor for sale.

The videos have racked up hundreds of thousands of views, as one person replied to say: "Love this! Been working there for three years myself and most of these are definitely true."

Another wrote: "I loooooove TK Maxx sooo much it hurts. I'm addicted!!"
