Former Titans RB Eddie George sees Titans going defense first in 2019 NFL Draft

Many former NFL legends traveled to Nashville this weekend for the 2019 NFL Draft.

One of these was former Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George, who kicked off Thursday morning by paying a visit to the winner of the Tostitos 2019 ultimate NFL Draft Experience.

George, who is set to announce the Titans’ second-round pick on Friday evening, will be among those eagerly watching to see who the team selects at No. 19 overall on Thursday.

George says he sees the team tending to the defense first.

“I could see them going with a defensive tackle or someone to bolster the defensive line. I think that’s what Mike Vrabel is looking for, to add a defensive player that can play multiple positions,” he told Titans Wire. “They could also use a pass rusher that could drop into coverage. When I look at prospects, I like guys like Montez Sweat. I would think they would go after him… there’s definitely a need at defensive tackle and at offensive lineman.”

As for the later rounds, some analysts have mocked a running back to the Titans as the draft winds down. Tennessee did devote some of the offseason to working out and evaluating rushers entering the draft.

George doesn’t see the position as a pressing need though, and would like to see the team take a cornerback at some point.

“I don’t think it’s high on the priority list,” George said of the running back position. “I think they have other things to address. Picking up another corner would not be a bad thing.”

George may not suit up for the Titans anymore, but he’s still very much involved with the team’s running backs, particularly former Alabama standout Derrick Henry.

“I know Derrick (Henry) really well,” he said. “I went to his Heisman ceremony. I’ve worked with him a lot, kind of mentored him with things both on and off the football field. When he has questions or needs some advice, he knows I’m always here.”

The first round of the draft is set to begin at 7 p.m. CT.
