Former Titans QB Zach Mettenberger enters XFL’s draft pool

Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger is returning to football yet again.

Mettenberger entered the XFL’s draft pool this week, joining a list of players that will steadily increase until Oct. 11, when it is expected to reach 1,000 names. The draft will be held Oct. 15-16 via conference call. The rebooted XFL will begin play in early February.

Mettenberger, who was originally drafted out of LSU by the Titans in 2015, is no stranger to leagues outside of the NFL.

He was a part of the Spring League, and played for the Alliance of American Football’s Memphis Express before the league folded earlier this year. It was there that Mettenberger recorded his first professional win as a starter.

In two seasons with the Titans, Mettenberger completed 60.3 percent of his passes for 2,347 yards with 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

He lost all 10 games he started in, and appeared in a total of 14 for Tennessee.

Mettenberger also had stints with the Chargers and Steelers before departing from the league shortly after the 2017 NFL Draft.

Quarterbacks Landry Jones, Vincent Testaverde, Jake Heaps and Darron Thomas will take part in the XFL Draft as well.
