Former Titans OL Mitch Petrus dies

Former Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Mitch Petrus died in Arkansas of apparent heat stroke this week at age 32.

According to Pulaski County Coroner Gerone Hobbs in a report by The Associated Press, Petrus died Thursday night at a hospital in North Little Rock and that the cause of death is listed as a heat stroke.

He had worked for a good portion of the day outdoors at his family shop.

Petrus originally played college football at the University of Arkansas as a walk-on, and went on to earn all-Southeastern Conference honors.

He was selected by the New York Giants in the fifth round in 2010 and played in the NFL for three seasons, including year in which he was a part of a Super Bowl winning New York team.

He also had brief stints with the New England Patriots and the Titans toward the end of his time in the league.

Petrus appeared in 27 games, starting four of them.
