Former Titans LB Keith Bulluck defends Marcus Mariota

The spotlight is on Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota for all the wrong reasons heading into Week 3 of the 2019 NFL regular season.

He’s struggled particularly through Tennessee’s past two contests, where the offense has produced just 24 points.

But former Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck doesn’t pin the blame entirely on Mariota.

He tweeted, “Marcus Mariota has had five offensive coordinators in five years… just saying!”

It’s true that the circumstances haven’t exactly been ideal for Mariota since he was drafted in 2015.

With the lack of a true supporting cast up until this season, all of the changes within the coaching staff and having to play behind an offensive line that’s left him injured an unable to play a full season — Mariota hasn’t been at an advantage.

But it seems his weaknesses are becoming more prominent after the Titans spent all offseason putting the continuity he lacked into place and adding weapons to the roster.

Mariota will get another chance to prove himself on the fifth and final year of his rookie deal as the Titans take the field next against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
