Former Thunder guard Alex Abrines could be headed to Barcelona

The Oklahoma City Thunder are still trying to pick up the pieces following a third straight first round exit as a coaching staff shake up could be on the way and one former Thunder shooter could be headed overseas.

The Thunder and shooting guard Alex Abrines parted ways in February due to some personal issues. Abrines averaged 5.3 points this season for the Thunder and he shot 32.3 percent from deep. He was a career 36.8 percent shooter from deep during his three seasons and the Thunder definitely could have used his shooting prowess in the playoffs against the Portland Trail Blazers.

According to Hoops Hype, the Spanish native could be on his way to Barcelona.

According to a report from L’Esportiu Catalunya, Barcelona is willing to bring back Alex Abrines. The Spanish swingman was waived by the Thunder back in February after some personal issues. Barcelona wants to refresh their backcourt, as they’re already targeting also CSKA’s Cory Higgins.

Hopefully Abrines can have a long and successful career overseas. It seemed like he had a lot of trouble finding his niche with the Thunder.
