Former Thunder coach Billy Donovan to accept Bulls job as new coach

The Oklahoma City Thunder had to part ways with Billy Donovan after the season due to financial constraints after he had a successful 5-year run in Oklahoma City. His contract expired and the team could not give him a new deal and both sides moved on.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Chicago Bulls are bringing in the former Thunder coach to fill their coaching vacancy after firing Jim Boylen recently. Donovan finished up his Thunder career with a 243-157 record and he did a great job this past season of getting the team to buy into his game plan and getting the team to the NBA Playoffs.

Donovan did a great job of getting the most out of younger players such as Lu Dort, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and others with the Thunder and he now will get the opportunity to work with a talented group in Chicago. Considering his track record, it is a perfect match for him.
