Confirmed: a former Houston Texans first-round pick from the general manager Rick Smith era will be playing for the Miami Dolphins.
It isn’t Deshaun Watson, but his favorite target in 2020: receiver Will Fuller.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Fuller has agreed to a one-year deal to join the Miami Dolphins, officially marking an end to Fuller’s tenure with the Texans.
Fuller joined the Texans as a first-round pick (No. 21st overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft. While playing the majority of his time lining up opposite of DeAndre Hopkins, Fuller developed into a solid second option in Houston.
However, injuries became a common theme for Fuller in Houston, as the 26-year-old receiver has appeared in 53 of a potential 80 career games. In 2018, Fuller’s season came to a premature end after he tore his ACL during the Texans’ 43-23 victory over the Dolphins.
During the 2020 season, amid a career year, Fuller received a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Fuller will miss the start of the 2021 season with one game left in his suspension.
In his five seasons in Houston, Fuller ends his career with the Texans with a total of 3,110 receiving yards with 209 catches and 24 touchdowns.
