Former Texans DE Mario Williams arrested, charged with trespassing

Former Houston Texans defensive end Mario Williams was arrested Tuesday on charges of trespassing in a woman’s home.

According to court documents obtained by KHOU, the former 2006 No. 1 overall pick entered a Katy woman’s home without permission. Williams was arrested on a $100 bond.

Court documents show, according to KHOU, that the woman filed for a restraining order against Williams in May. Williams will undergo a mental health or intellectual disability assessment, according to the court documents obtained by KHOU.

Houston drafted Williams at No. 1 overall from North Carolina State, and the 6-foot-7, 300-pound edge defender achieved double-digit sacks with the Texans in 2007 and 2008, and made the Pro Bowl in 2008 and 2009. The Texans let Williams walk in free agency after the 2011 season, as he was not a true fit in the club’s 3-4 defense. Williams landed with the Buffalo Bills, with whom spent the 2012-2015 seasons. Williams’ most recent stop was with the Miami Dolphins in 2016.
