Former Tennessee Titans DT Albert Haynesworth in ‘dire need’ of kidney

Former Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is in “dire need” of a kidney transplant.

Haynesworth has been retired from the NFL for eight years now, and this is his second health scare.

In 2014, he suffered two brain aneurysms that were ready to rupture. That stint left Haynesworth in intensive care for 11 days in a Florida hospital.

This time, he needs the help of a donor. Haynesworth took to social media with the news this week, asking for help in the ordeal.

Haynesworth says he’s been battling kidney disease for the last few years, and that his kidney finally failed him on July 7.

Haynesworth was a first round pick by the Titans in 2002 and played with the Titans until 2008. On his professional career – which concluded in 2011 – he recorded 30.5 sacks, 347 tackles and 65 quarterback hits.

He was named to the Pro Bowl twice, and was selected to two first-team All-Pro teams while playing in the NFL.
