Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern tipped to take part in Dancing with the Stars

Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has been backed by punters to swap politics for the Paso Doble and take part in Dancing with the Stars.

The ex-Fianna Fail leader, who was previously in the audience supporting son in law Nicky Byrne, is hotly tipped to feature in the TV contest.

The odds on Bertie boogieing on the show have tumbled into 5/1 from an initial 20/1 to take part in the popular RTE programme.

Dana Rosemary Scallon has also been backed to take part in the next series of Dancing with the Stars 50 years after her Eurovision success.

The former politician saw her odds narrow into 5/1 from 12/1.

Meanwhile, other rumoured contestants are Ray D’Arcy and Donncha O’Callaghan (both 5/4).

Sarah Kinsella of BoyleSports said: “As the rumours continue as to who will waltz onto Dancing with the Stars, we make Bertie Ahern 5/1 from 20/1 following support on Saturday morning.

"Dana, is 5/1 from 12/1 to take part, whilst retired jockey Ruby Walsh plummeted into 4/1 from 10/1 just over a week ago.”
