Former Swansea City boss Huw Jenkins in shock link to takeover of another club

Former Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has been linked with a potential takeover of League One Blackpool.

Jenkins stepped down from the helm at the Liberty Stadium in February after 17 years in the position.

It marked the end of a febrile three years since the 2016 takeover of the Swans by American pair Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan, during which time Jenkins received fierce criticism from some of the club's supporters.

Now The Sun is reporting that Jenkins has 'found allies' to make a move for ailing former Premier League side Blackpool.

Jenkins has previously been linked with a shock move to buy back Swansea , although the Sun report a £65m asking price for is seen as too high by Jenkins' group.

However there are suggestions the selling price for Blackpool could be as little as a quarter of that amount, which would attract interest from a number of parties.

Jenkins claimed the leadership and direction he was once able to provide at Swansea, which had been a massive part of him for so many years, had been 'eroded away'.

Blackpool are in 10th spot in League One with one game left to play and are being tipped as promotion contenders next season.

Jenkins was at the helm when the Swans were promoted from League One and, of course, from the Championship into the Premier League.
