Former Swansea City and Man City striker Wilfried Bony 'considered' by Bristol City as club run checks on character

Bristol City are weighing up a potential move for former Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony, according to reports.

The Ivory Coast international is without a club having been released by the Swans in the summer following a loan stint with Qatari outfit Al-Arabi.

He has trained with Newport County in addition to embarking on a personal fitness regime in a bid to keep himself in top shape with a view to finding a new club.

And Bristol Live report that Lee Johnson's side have considered Bony as an option to bolster their forward options.

It comes after the Ashton Gate outfit lost Benik Afobe to injury.

The Robins' first team assistant head coach Jamie McAllister said: "Yeah, we’ve looked at all the out of contract ones.

"The people we’ve got at the club, the people we’ve got behind the scenes, they do all that investigation and looking at who’s available and who’s not, and putting it forward to us. We look at everyone, Europe ... all over.

"It’s got to be the right fit, the right character, the right player: something we’re looking for, something we need to add to the team and make us stronger, make us better.

"We’re always looking, always looking to improve. But as we said before, it has to be the right fit for the group. Fit our style and way of playing and make sure that they’ll add something that benefits the team."

Bony recently made a surprise appearance in an eight-a-side fixture in Loughor as he continues his hunt to find a new team.
