Former Sunderland 'target' scores for Scotland against the Netherlands

Former Sunderland 'target' Kevin Nisbet scored his fist goal for Scotland against the Netherlands last night.

The Black Cats were linked with a move for the Hibernian striker during the January transfer window, but a move to Wearside didn't transpire.

Instead, Lee Johnson opted to bring in Ross Stewart to bolster the Wearsiders' attacking options and he's set to play a major role in next season.

Nisbet has scored 14 times in 33 appearances for Jack Ross's side and is now being linked with a move to Scottish giants Celtic.

The 24-year-old has a keen eye for goal scoring 62 goals in his last 95 games, stretching back to 2018.

His most recent came against an impressive Netherlands side last night.

The Hibs striker scored just one minute after coming on to put Steve Clarke's side back in front.

Nisbet was lurking at the far post to prod Andrew Robertson's cross past former Newcastle United keeper Tim Krul.

A late Memphis Depay free-kick meant that the score finished level in Scotland's penultimate friendly ahead of Euro 2020.

The Hibs striker is expected to be Scotland's third choice heading into the tournament, but if he's to maintain his impressive record in front of goal, a move away from Easter Road could be on the cards.

Sunderland could well still be keeping tabs on the Scottish international and could be forced to stump up a larger fee if he's to prove a success at the Euro's.
