Former Sunderland goalkeeping coach Jimmy Walker leaves Ipswich Town

Former Sunderland goalkeeping coach, Jimmy Walker, has left Ipswich Town.

The 47-year-old left the Stadium of Light to join the backroom staff at the Tractorboys in 2018 having previously worked at Lincoln City.

Walker took on a more prominent role at Ipswich during the final few weeks of Paul Lambert's tenure and prior to Paul Cook's arrival, however the Town boss is looking to freshen up his staff at Portman Road.

Cook is now the hunt for a a new goalkeeping coach, with academy coach Carl Pentney earning a part-time promotion to the first team to work with Tomas Holy and David Cornell while the search goes on.

Speaking to the EADT, Cook said: “I have thanked Jimmy for his work at the Club.

“I explained to him that I just want to look to freshen things up right across the board.

“Jimmy knows the game and change often happens in football when a new manager takes over. I want to wish him all the best for the future.

“Carl will work with the ‘keepers for now and we will immediately begin the process of looking for the right person to come in and join the staff.”
