Former Sunderland defender Joel Lynch on trial with Bolton Wanderers

Former Black Cats centre-back Joel Lynch is training with Bolton Wanderers, according to reports.

The SouthendEcho reports that the the 33-year-old defender has linked up with Ian Evatt's side after training with Southend United for a number of weeks.

Lynch had been in with the Shrimpers since the beginning of January and has been without a club since leaving the Stadium of Light last summer.

Lynch is now believed to be training with the Trotters. Ian Evatt said that they were close to a deal for an unnamed centre-half who was on trial with the club.

The former Black Cats defender has clocked up over 420 senior appearances lining up for the likes of Brighton, Nottingham Forest, Huddersfield Town and QPR.
